We decided to continue our adventure to N/E Bali on a road that in the old days was impossible unless you had a Jeep, Jalan Karangasem Serya.
These days the road had been improved to the point where we could take a modern car.
A few minutes after the Water Palace we passed my very first property that I sold to an American couple over 15 years ago for only $1,000 per hundred square meters for fantastic beachfront with snorkeling and surfing at their front door .
The current value of the property even after the first downturn in modern history is around $20,000 per hundred square meters or over a 2,000% profit in 15 years.
Needless to say these Americans are very happy with yours truly.
Then we started to drive on a very curvy Jalan Karangasem Serya. and saw some extraordinary scenery including some secret beaches that even my driver, who was born has never seen.
We took a side track down a very precarious road where the residents have always rarely seen a car. During a rainy day would be near impossible as you would slide all the way down.
At the bottom was this beautiful fishermen's Beach with thousands of Jukungs, the traditional Balinese fishing boat
Then we continued along the road which even my wife who has lived here even longer than me has never been on.
If you take this trip be extremely cautious because obviously the locals are not used to cars coming the other way.
There is some beautiful scenery along the way.
We climbed and then we came back down and decided to stop at the first restaurant we came along, the Smiling Buddha which featured organically grown foods.
We were the only people in the restaurant perchedon a beach.
Later we went on to what is called the Treehouse climbing the cliffs of Mount Agung.
At one point it became a very little concern because if the mountain decided to go off point we would be trapped on 11 KM from the cone.
Especially when I saw recent Layar flow which is a combination of hot lava coming down the hill through a river bank.
Needless to say I was happy to get out of there and they were close anyways probably because of the volcano activity.
Evidently my wife and our driver had conspired to go to some very unique places which I hadn't even heard of in 21 years.
One was called Virgin Beach which trust me unless you knew where was youwould not be able to find it.
What's amazing is that this beautiful white sand beach within an hour and 15 minutes from my home is probably the best white sand beach on the Northern East Coast which is normally surrounded by black sand beaches.
When we first came down towards the beach we noticed there was a brand-new road cut into it, which probably made it a lot easier to get too than the jungle path before.
There were few tourists on the beach partially because it was a probably raining there a few hours before.
I wasn't planning on going swimming and didn't have swimming trunks with me but as soon as I saw the water I knew I had to jump in.
So my wonderful my wife went over and bought me inexpensive shorts.
Our two boys and I were in the water immediately.
Two hours later the boys were still there.
We decided to have a quick fresh seafood dinner on the beach for under $25 for the four of us along with some fresh coconuts.
I'm almost tempted not to even report on this beach because I do not wanted to be flooded with tourists.
The mere fact that it is probably 2 1/2 hours from Kuta and Seminayk probably prevents many tourists anyways.
In the meantime, SHHHH Let's keep it quiet only for us.
I asked about buying some land on the beach and found out somebody from Jakarta bought the entire area already
We decided to go home around 5 o'clock just before dark, jumped in the Jacuzzi cocktails and reminded ourselves how fortunate we are to live in Bali especially a beachfront residence and be in close proximity to such extraordinary sites, sounds and beaches.
